History of Design Workshop (DeW)

Cloud based infrastructure and services have grown multifold over the last decade especially for business applications, social networks and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Consequently, security and privacy in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) have become extremely important. Keeping this in view, the next Design Workshop 2019 (DeW 2019) focuses on “Security and Privacy of Cyber-Physical Systems”. The annual ‘Design Workshop’ is a flagship workshop organized each year by IIITDM Jabalpur in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan and with the support and guidance from leading academicians and industry people from across the globe.
DeW 2019 will provide a platform for professionals from academia, government, and industry to discuss how to design and deploy secure CPS infrastructure in the era of IIoT to counter the ever-increasing security challenges. DeW 2019 will include a wide spectrum of topics relevant to secure communication, cryptography and network security, IIoT, sensors and networks, cloud computing and Industrial design and automation etc. The topics of interest of this workshop include, but are not limited to

The annual Design Workshop 2017 (DeW 2017) organized at IIITDM Jabalpur in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan during 09-11 Dec 2017. The central idea of the workshop is Industrial Internet and Industry 4.0, which is truly interdisciplinary in nature in alignment with the core theme of IIITDM Jabalpur which is IT enabled Design and Manufacturing. Modern Industrial enterprise is the integration of wide range of physical system and machinery with networked sensors and software for their interoperability. Industrial Internet is envisioned to play a crucial role in Industry 4.0 the digital transformation of industry and the fourth industrial revolution worldwide. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together people from the arena of academia, industry and research to share expertise and technical knowhow on the challenges and implementation of Industrial Internet and Industry 4.0. DeW 2017 include wide spectrum of topics relevant to Electronics, Communication Technology, sensor and networks, cyber-physical systems, Internet of things, cloud computing and Industrial design and automation etc.

DEW 2017

DeW 2016 focused on Internet of Process Centric Design and Manufacture. Industry 4.0 is the fourth major upheaval in modern manufacturing. It involves the use of advancements in communication and information technology to increase the degree of automation and digitization of production, manufacturing and industrial processes. The incorporation of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the design and manufacturing has played an important role in initiating the fourth industrial revolution. The physical and the virtual world have been merged using Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). CPS are integrations of computational and physical processes. IoT is the network in which the CPS collaborate with each other through unique addressing schemas. The Smart Factory or the Factory of the Future is intended to operate efficiently, with all processes performing and regulating in a smooth and continuous manner. The objective of Industry 4.0 is to eventually manage the entire value chain process, by improving the efficiency of the design and production along with the quality of the products.
